Release Month

It’s been one month since I launched The Secret Club into the world. And it has been a wild ride! To kick off the books release I created some BookBub Ads with the special launch price of 99c because I couldn’t create Amazon Ads (Amazon doesn’t allow for Erotica Ads). Anyhow, trying different Ads set ups has proven interesting. That has been one giant learning curve and if I’m honest, I am still on that learning curve but I’ve tamed my Ads down to one which is actually sitting at a CTR of 1.83% and I’m pretty stoked about that.

I also breathed some life into my socials, that too is and has been a learning curve. Trying to figure out what people want to see vs the algorithm whilst staying relevant is a mindfield. But a quite a fun one. I took a 7 day course for $50 from The Digital Picnic and it was probably the best $50 i’ve ever spent in my life. Whilst I haven’t nailed my content and schedule just yet - I’m not completely stumbling in the darkness. I do now have a head torch on. And it can be quite the dopamine hit when finally, one post does better then the rest, even if it has almost nothing to do with your book. haha

I have enjoyed waking up every day to check my ‘page read count’ and orders numbers. Then I check Goodreads and Amazon to see if anyone has left me any reviews. The anticipation of looking is a dopamine hit let me tell you. Even if I’m half terrified no one has read or bought my book or worst, left me a harrowing review.

One thing I regret is not launching KU until after the first week of launch. I think I would have done better, but we can all say that in hindsight.

Ok, so results. That is really what you’re here for so lets get into it. Actually before I start, I should mention that I’ll very likely be retiring the novellas so will not include them in these results:

Orders: 432

KENP: 94,654

Amazon Reviews: 17 (4.6%)

Amazon Followers: 44

Goodreads Reviews: 9 (4.67%)

Goodreads Followers: 7

Preorders Book #2: 29

Preorders Book #3: 8

I did apply for the Bookbub mailout but alas I wasn’t successful. I wasn’t too surprised, I didn’t have many reviews so I get it. Therefore I have lined up some other book mailouts for next week for when I run my 5 day free book promo that KU allows every three months. I’m kinda hoping it goes well but I saw a depressing stat recently where people only read like 20% of the books they download for free. But ah well, we shall see.

I am also running a Goodreads competition which is kinda cool. Everyone who enters the comp has my book entered onto their tbr list. So whilst i’m not smashing the entries, I do have 973 people who have heard of my book and ‘may’ read it one day. Every tiny step counts.

And so the fun continues. I did finish the end of my next book has been a great feeling, i certainly feel the pressure to get it finished now it’s on presale. It’s with my editor now, so with a bit of luck i’ll have it done it very good time before the 30th June release! Might even be able to drum up some support for it on my socials which I probably should have done for the Secret Club but ahhh you live and learn.

I’ve given myself the rest of June off writing so I can start a fresh in May. I’m sad and excited to finish the trilogy but I’m looking forward to finding out myself what happens in the end!

Thank you for coming on this journey with me,

Ruby x
